The Field House Website goes live

As February came to a close we were able to wrap up months of hard work and put the new website for the Field House of Shelburne, Vermont live.

The Field House was referred to us by the great staff at Shelburne Health and Fitness after we re-did their site a few months back.

The Field House staff had inherited a site when they bought the business that wasn’t easy for them to update, wasn’t easy for the user to navigate, and lacked an easy way to accept payments from its customers. When we began the journey of developing the site they stressed that these three pieces were the most crucial to any new website.

After going back and forth over many content management system options, they finally decided that WordPress would be their CMS. Since we pride ourselves in building WordPress sites that are easy for the business owner to maintain we felt confident that this would take care of problem #1 with the old site.

Next it was time to figure out how to make the site easier to navigate. After spending hours pouring over their Google Analytics account we realized that surfers were not turning into users because they had no clue where to click. Our solution to this was to streamline the top navigation by using drop downs and then add a sidebar that would show relevant sub-navigation for whatever page you were currently viewing.

Lastly, it was time to figure out a way to handle online payments without making it so complicated that no one would use it. After consulting with the Field House staff the decision was made that there was no need for users to have to register for an account, fill out 20 fields, then checkout. We streamlined the process by not having an account registration, kept all the checkout fields on one page, and finished it off by integrating with the authorize.net API.

Overall, we’re very happy with the site and look forward to working with the Field House for years to come!
